The interim government of Bangladesh has issued the "Voter List (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025," granting the Election Commission authority to update the voter list at any time of the year, even before an election schedule is announced. Amending the 2009 law, the ordinance allows registration of new voters, removal of deceased or ineligible individuals, and updating based on geographic changes beyond the previously fixed deadline of January 1. The ordinance was issued by the President under Article 93(1) of the Constitution and is effective immediately.
