July Declaration Lacks Spirit of Revolution: Mahmudur Rahman
Criticizing the July Declaration, Amar Desh editor Mahmudur Rahman said the draft is incomprehensible for ordinary people. “In the revolution, a rickshaw puller, a farmer’s son from a village, and working people took part—where is the expression of their aspirations in the July Declaration? How will they understand it? Was such a long document necessary, and why was it made so legalistic? It is impossible for ordinary people to grasp its essence. I myself can’t understand half of it. Would anyone risk their life purely for legal jargon? People stand in front of a raised police gun, like Abu Saeed did, for passion—for love of the country, for love of the people. Where is that reflection in the July Declaration? Who drafted this?”
