A group of 45 Rohingya refugees, including 18 children, who fled from Bhasan Char has been detained in the Bhatiari area of Sitakunda. They were found sheltering inside a shipbreaking yard. Several Rohingyas said they hired four trawlers from the vicinity of Bhasan Char to return to the refugee camps in Teknaf. Adult passengers reportedly paid BDT 12,000 each for the journey. However, instead of reaching Teknaf, the trawlers dropped them off at Sitakunda. Authorities plan to hand them over to Noakhali police for repatriation to Bhasan Char.
