Severe Schedule Disruption as Locomotive Shortage Cripples Eastern Railway Services
Railway services in Bangladesh's Eastern Zone are facing a severe crisis due to a drastic shortage of locomotives, with only about one-third of the daily engine demand being met. Many of the engines that are in service are faulty, leading to widespread schedule disruptions. As a result, trains are frequently stalled for hours mid-journey, delayed in both departure and arrival, or even canceled—causing significant inconvenience to passengers.
