Former Youth Dal leader Joydeep Chowdhury Madhab, who was previously expelled following protests by street vendors over extortion allegations, has been arrested in Sylhet. Police reports state that on February 28, Madhab and his associates allegedly kidnapped a vendor named Kajol Mia, took him to Sitara Mansion in Zindabazar, and forcibly extorted BDT 16,500 from him at knifepoint. He was also physically assaulted and later pressured to pay an additional BDT 30,000. The arrest follows widespread protests against his actions.
