The much-anticipated Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) system has been launched on a trial basis at the Padma Bridge, ushering in a new era of cashless, non-stop toll payments. Under the system, vehicles no longer need to stop at toll plazas. Registered cars can cross designated ETC lanes at speeds of up to 30 km/h, with tolls deducted automatically from prepaid accounts.
Vehicle registration and recharge can currently be completed through Trust Bank’s Tap app under the "D-Toll" option, followed by verification at the bridge’s RFID booth. Chief Engineer Abu Sayeed said the system will ensure seamless travel once fully implemented. More financial apps will soon be integrated, and authorities expect full-scale rollout within two weeks.
