Following nationwide protests on August 5 last year, the Khanasama Upazila Awami League office in Dinajpur was vandalized and set on fire, leaving it abandoned and in ruins. Once a center of political power, the building now serves as a public toilet and houses small shops. Local residents say the office symbolized oppression under the party’s rule. Since the party’s fall, many leaders have gone into hiding or left the area, while the office remains deserted and a reminder of political turmoil.

Upazila Awami League Office Now a Public Toilet

On August 5 last year, the arrogant walls of power across the country crumbled under the uprising of students and the public. Numerous party offices, from elite buildings to union-level offices, were burned and destroyed. Following this trend, the Khanasama Upazila Awami League office in Dinajpur has also become a brutal symbol of this collapse. Once a stronghold of power, it is now an object of disgust. In front of the building, there are now shops selling paan (betel leaf), tea, bidi (local cigarettes), and regular cigarettes. The dilapidated building itself is currently being used by the general public as a public toilet.
