A bomb scare was reported at the metro rail station in the Mirpur 10 roundabout area of the capital after police received information about a suspected bomb-like object. Police cordoned off the area near the station, where a bag containing something suspicious was found beside a lift on the western side of Mirpur 10 metro station.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit's bomb disposal team arrived at the scene at about 12 noon on Saturday after being informed that a bomb-like object had been left there. A Mirpur police source confirmed the information to the media, while the incident created anxiety in the surrounding area.
Police said it had not yet been confirmed whether the bag contained an actual bomb. The CTTC bomb disposal unit was called to examine the item. The report also said metro rail services returned to normal after a temporary interruption.
