US President Donald Trump has indicated that the United States may launch a military strike on Venezuela at any time, targeting what he described as the country's drug trafficking infrastructure. Speaking at a cabinet meeting on December 2, Trump accused Venezuelan cartels of producing large quantities of fentanyl that allegedly cause thousands of deaths in the US each year. He claimed that last year alone, fentanyl use led to 200,000 American deaths. Trump stated that the US is prepared for land-based operations, asserting that such attacks would be easier than naval ones. The US has already deployed warships in the Caribbean and conducted strikes on vessels suspected of drug smuggling. In response, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has mobilized his military and accused Washington of psychological warfare and aggression. Thousands of Maduro supporters rallied in Caracas to protest what they called US threats, vowing to resist any foreign intervention.
