Flood Threat in 12 Districts
Heavy rainfall and upstream surges are causing rising water levels in rivers across the country. In particular, water in the Teesta, Padma, and Jamuna rivers is flowing near or above danger levels at various points, raising fears of flooding in vast low-lying areas of at least 12 districts. In some areas, cropland, homes, and river islands (chars) have already been submerged, leaving thousands of families stranded.
