Jamaat-e-Islami organized a protest rally and procession in Dhaka on Sunday to denounce the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and senior military officials in a recent attack. The demonstration took place at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, jointly arranged by the party’s Dhaka North and South units. Party Nayeb-e-Ameer ATM Azharul Islam MP addressed the gathering as chief guest, describing the attack as part of a long-standing conspiracy against Iran’s progress and as an assault on democracy and humanity.
ATM Azharul Islam urged the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the United Nations to take proper action, warning that global citizens would reject them if they failed to act. He called for an end to Israeli attacks on Iran and the Muslim world, urging unity among Muslim nations and a boycott of Israeli products. The rally, presided over by Dhaka South Jamaat Ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul MP, was also addressed by several central and city leaders. After the assembly, participants marched through Paltan and Kakrail areas.
The event also included condemnation of a separate incident in Chuadanga’s Jibannagar, where a Jamaat activist was reportedly killed in an attack allegedly by BNP members.
