A fishing trawler capsized off the coast of Chattogram in the Bay of Bengal, leaving eight fishermen missing. Eleven others were rescued by a nearby vessel while floating in the sea. The ill-fated trawler had 19 fishermen onboard. According to Coast Guard officials, search and rescue operations are currently underway to locate the missing individuals, all of whom are residents of Noakhali. Four of the missing fishermen have been identified as Abul Bashar, Jamal Uddin, Md Faruk, and Md Idris. Lieutenant Shakib Mehboob of the Coast Guard said the trawler owner informed them of the incident this morning, after which rescue operations were launched. The owner, Mohammad Miraj, stated that the vessel departed from Chattogram’s Fishery Ghat early Thursday morning and sank in the afternoon after colliding with another fishing boat in deep sea waters.
