BNP-nominated candidate Mojibur Rahman Sarwar has won the Barishal-5 (City-Sadar) constituency according to unofficial results from all 176 polling centers. He secured 130,006 votes with the paddy sheaf symbol, while his closest rival, Islami Andolan Bangladesh candidate Faizul Karim, received 93,216 votes with the hand fan symbol. The results were announced by Manzura Mosharraf, Executive Officer of Barishal Sadar Upazila and Assistant Returning Officer.
The constituency has a total of 468,569 registered voters, including 235,649 men, 232,917 women, and three third-gender voters, according to unofficial data. Following the announcement, BNP leaders and activists celebrated across the city, distributing sweets and expressing joy over the victory.
The report highlights that the results are unofficial and were declared locally, reflecting a significant lead for the BNP candidate in this key Barishal seat.
