The Border Security Force (BSF) of India pushed back eight individuals—including men, women, and children—across the Rangmohol border in Gangni Upazila of Meherpur district.
The individuals said they had been working as laborers in various parts of India for a long time but were arrested and imprisoned about a year ago. After their release from jail on Wednesday, the police handed them over to the BSF. The BSF then reportedly pushed them through the border gate at gunpoint.
After crossing back into Bangladesh, they were detained by the Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB). Subedar Basharul Islam of the BGB confirmed the incident and said preparations are underway to send a formal letter to the BSF to hold a flag meeting regarding the matter.
