According to the report, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in a joint United States and Israeli attack on Tehran and other Iranian cities on February 28. In early March, Iran’s Assembly of Experts selected his son, Mojtaba Khamenei, as the country’s new supreme leader. Iran later carried out repeated missile and drone strikes against US and Israeli military bases and other facilities in the region in response to the attack.
