A 1.5-kilometre herringbone-bond road in Daulatdia ইউনিয়ন of Goalanda, Rajbari, has developed collapses shortly after construction was completed. The road, built for more than Tk 12.5 million, runs from behind Daulatdia Akkas Ali High School through the Ashrayan Project area to Rikat’s shop. At least 15 to 20 points have been affected after sustained rainfall. Construction began on 12 March and was completed on 10 June.

According to the Upazila Project Implementation Officer’s office, the project was funded by the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief under the 2025-26 rural road sustainability programme. Its estimated cost was Tk 12,578,725, while the contract value was Tk 11,949,788. Residents alleged poor-quality bricks, inadequate guidewall masonry and insufficient slope filling, compaction and turfing. The contractor’s representative denied the allegations and said any rain-related damage would be repaired quickly.

Project Implementation Officer Abu Bakar said the contractor had been told to ensure quality following residents’ complaints and has now been instructed to repair the damaged sections. He said defects must be corrected before the security deposit is returned because the project carries a one-year warranty. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sathi Das said the damaged road would be inspected on site and necessary action taken after quality checks.
