Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal central president Rakibul Islam Rakib warned Chhatra Shibir against displaying locally made weapons or creating disorder. Speaking to journalists at the inauguration of the July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum, he said Shibir would face “yesterday’s consequences” if it displayed such weapons again. The report was published on August 5, 2026. Rakib said Chhatra Dal wanted to conduct politics with restraint but would not make concessions if Shibir sought to create an unruly situation.
Rakib said recent events at Begum Rokeya University were unacceptable. He alleged that weapons were displayed over a minor incident and that Chhatra Dal leaders and activists were attacked throughout the night. He also said videos of those incidents had spread on social media.
The Chhatra Dal president further alleged that senior Jamaat leaders had supported the incident, not only Shibir. He said there was a tendency to portray attacks involving weapons as bravery, which he described as an ominous sign for the country’s politics. He also alleged that Shibir leaders and activists created a “mob” at Jagannath University, escalating tensions there.
