NCP leader Hasnat Abdullah has expressed disappointment over the recent meeting between Interim Government Chief Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman. While he welcomed the meeting as a positive step towards national consensus, he criticized the lack of emphasis on crucial reforms.
“While the timing and month of the election were prioritized, the long-awaited demands for justice and reforms in post-uprising Bangladesh were sidelined,” he said. Hasnat stressed that by July, a declaration, fundamental reforms, visible judicial progress, and essential electoral reforms should be completed as prerequisites for any credible election. He also underscored the importance of ensuring a level playing field for all parties in the upcoming polls.
