Twelve people were killed when a passenger bus collided with a train at the Paduar Bazar rail crossing on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Cumilla on Saturday night, March 21. The incident occurred under the flyover in Sadar Dakshin upazila when a Chuadanga-to-Lakshmipur-bound bus named Mamun Special was hit by the Dhaka Mail train coming from Chattogram. Police and fire service teams conducted rescue operations at the site, while injured passengers were taken to Cumilla Medical College Hospital.

Railway authorities have formed three separate investigation committees, including officials from various railway departments, to determine the cause of the accident. Additionally, the Cumilla district administration has set up a five-member committee led by the Additional District Magistrate, with representatives from BRTA, highway police, the station master, and the fire service. The committees have been instructed to submit their reports within three working days.

Cumilla Deputy Commissioner Md Reza Hasan confirmed that families of the deceased will receive Tk 25,000 in financial assistance. He also reported that 18 injured passengers received primary treatment, five remain under care, and one is in the ICU.
