The oath-taking ceremony for the Prime Minister and new cabinet members will be held at the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building. President Md. Traditionally, such ceremonies have taken place in the Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban, but this time the venue has been shifted to the Parliament complex.
Earlier the same day, at 10:30 a.m., newly elected Members of Parliament will take their oaths in the Parliament’s oath room, confirmed by Parliament Secretariat Secretary Kaniz Mowla. The 13th National Parliamentary Election resulted in a decisive victory for the BNP-led alliance, which secured 212 of 297 seats, enabling it to form the next government. The Jamaat-e-Islami-led 11-party alliance won 77 seats and is set to become the main opposition for the first time.
The change of venue for the swearing-in ceremony marks a significant departure from established practice, reflecting a new phase in Bangladesh’s political transition following the election outcome.
