The Ministry of Religious Affairs in Bangladesh has requested nationwide prayers and special religious observances on Friday to honor the late Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of the Inquilab Mancha and a leading figure in the July uprising. The ministry announced that prayers will be held in all mosques after the Friday Jumu’ah prayer, while temples, churches, and pagodas will organize services according to their respective faiths.
Officials from the Islamic Foundation, Hindu Religious Welfare Trust, Buddhist Religious Welfare Trust, and Christian Religious Welfare Trust have been instructed to coordinate the arrangements. The initiative aims to commemorate Hadi’s role as a fearless fighter during the July movement and to seek divine mercy for his soul.
The government’s call reflects a broader effort to recognize those who played pivotal roles in recent political movements. Religious leaders and community organizations are expected to participate widely, marking a moment of national reflection and unity across faiths.
