Sadiq Kayem, identified as vice president of DUCSU, described his role in policy decisions and field coordination during the July movement in an article published on August 5, 2026. He said that when many first-tier coordinators were absent, second-tier coordinators were placed in safe houses while communication with different groups continued. During the internet blackout from July 19 to July 24, daily programmes were sent to journalists through leaders’ phone numbers and hard copies, he wrote.

Kayem said that after Nahid Islam and Asif Mahmud were taken to the DB office on July 26, efforts were made to move coordinators to safe locations. He described the use of three ambulances to remove Abdul Hannan Masud and others from a hospital. A documentation team collected lists of those killed and injured, along with photographs from several areas, and the material was released at an online press conference on July 27, according to his account.

The article also recounts planning for the March for Justice, Remembering Our Heroes, prayer and procession programmes, and the March to Dhaka. Kayem said the March to Dhaka was moved from August 6 to August 5 after discussions on August 4. He claimed that students and members of the public took to the streets the next day and that Sheikh Hasina left the country before noon.
