What Does Israel Want in Cyprus?

Shey Gal recently wrote an article in the Israeli newspaper HaYom, which has sparked widespread reactions. The article was titled “Northern Cyprus Is Also an Israeli Problem”, meaning that Northern Cyprus is also an issue for Israel. The piece drew sharp criticism from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and Turkey. Gal once served as Vice President of International Relations at Israel Aerospace Industries and as a senior advisor to Israeli government ministers. In his article, he attempted to assess the Netanyahu government’s policies in the Middle East and Cyprus.
