Mohammadpur Expands Over Buriganga Floodplain Amid Rapid Urbanization

Under immense pressure from urbanization, the boundaries of Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka are constantly expanding. The Mohammadpur area, once limited to a specific region on the map, has now stretched beyond the floodplains of the Buriganga River, reaching as far as the Turag River. Where once there were rivers, canals, and paddy fields, there are now high-rise buildings and dense housing projects. With the disappearance of water bodies, the land has changed its very nature.
