U.S. Labor Department’s Deputy Minister Briefed on Bangladesh’s Workforce Only 15% of Bangladesh’s 75 million workers are employed in the formal sector
Bangladesh has a labor force of 75 million, of which only 15 percent work in the formal sector, while the rest are employed informally. This information was shared by Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. M. Sakhawat Hossain, Adviser to the Ministries of Shipping and Labor & Employment, during a bilateral meeting with Keith Sonderling, Deputy Minister of the U.S. Department of Labor, in Geneva, Switzerland.
