14 Foreign Airlines Cease Operations in 16 Years
Over the 16 years of the Awami League government, 14 foreign airlines have gradually pulled out of Chattogram due to various mismanagement and corruption issues. Currently, the Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram maintains its “international” status with only two airlines operating. Passenger traffic, however, has been increasing on both international and domestic routes each year. According to sources, irregularities and corruption have caused the decline in airline numbers at the port city.
