The Ministry of Public Administration of Bangladesh has cancelled the remaining contractual tenure of Cabinet Secretary Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rashid. The decision was announced on Saturday, February 14, 2026, through a circular issued by the ministry’s Contract and Foreign Recruitment Branch. The order, signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Mohammad Mamun Shibli, stated that the appointment made under the October 8, 2024 notification was being terminated in the public interest with immediate effect.
The directive has already been implemented, and all relevant offices and departments have been notified. Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rashid had been appointed to the key administrative post following the student and public uprising of July–August 2024, which led to significant political changes in the country.
The cancellation marks a major reshuffle in the top level of the administration as the interim government nears the end of its tenure, signaling further possible changes in senior bureaucratic positions.
