Interim government adviser Rizwana Hasan has declared that factories using underground water must pay a usage fee. This initiative aims to curb river and reservoir pollution and enforce the reuse of industrial wastewater. She also revealed that an action plan is being formulated to recover and protect four major rivers around Dhaka. "We won’t be able to complete all tasks within our tenure," she said, "but we will begin restoring the Turag River and prioritize reclaiming Gacha canal, Lobondaha, and illegally occupied forest land after August 8."
