No Police Verification Required for Passport: Chief Adviser

Interim government’s Chief Adviser, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, has announced that police verification will no longer be required for obtaining a passport. He made this declaration on Sunday at the District Commissioners (DC) Conference held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital. The Chief Adviser stated, “A passport is my citizen’s right. Whether I am a thief or a robber is a matter for the police to assess separately. When I was issued a birth certificate, no police verification was required. Similarly, my National ID (NID) was provided without police verification—I received it as a citizen.”
