Teesta River Water Rising Due to Hill Downpours in India, Flood Concerns Grow
The water level in the Teesta River is rapidly rising due to upstream hill downpours coming from India. The river began swelling on Thursday night, and as of 6 a.m. Friday, the water at the Dalia Point is flowing 23 centimeters below the danger level. This has caused panic among residents of 89 river-adjacent char (island-like sandbars) areas.
