The Bihari Rehabilitation Parliament (BBRS) organized a protest march in Mirpur demanding the withdrawal of three alleged fabricated cases filed by the Dhaka Electric Supply Company (DESCO) mobile court against Bihari residents. The march, held on July 5, 2026, began at Talab Camp in Mirpur 11 and ended with a rally in front of DESCO’s Pallabi Zone office. Protesters also called for relocating DESCO’s court to the Old Dhaka court area.
The demonstration followed incidents on April 28, when DESCO’s mobile court fined five residents of Talab Bihari Camp Tk 2.8 million through three separate cases, sparking tension in the camp. At the rally, BBRS leaders and National Awami Party (NAP Bangladesh) Secretary General Neyaz Ahmad Khan criticized the alleged misuse of mobile courts and accused DESCO of acting in favor of land grabbers. They demanded judicial neutrality and the relocation of DESCO’s court to ensure transparency.
The rally concluded with a 10-point demand to the government, including stopping the misuse of mobile courts and protecting Bihari residents from harassment.
