Former Chairman of Janata Bank, Economist Abul Barkat Arrested

Dr. Abul Barkat, former chairman of Janata Bank and economist, has been arrested. He was taken into custody last night from the Dhanmondi area in the capital by the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) police. Mohammad Nasirul Islam, Joint Commissioner of the DB, confirmed the matter to the media. He stated, “Based on secret information, a raid was conducted in Dhanmondi, leading to the arrest of Abul Barkat. There is a case against him filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission.”
