Police seized 1,750 kg of Indian sugar and arrested one individual in Doarabazar on Friday. The detainee has been identified as Motior Rahman (50). According to the police, they launched a special operation after receiving intelligence about sugar being illegally smuggled from the Indian border using a Tomtom (three-wheeler) to evade customs duties. During the operation, they intercepted a suspicious vehicle and discovered 11 sacks of sugar. Additionally, a search of Motior Rahman’s shop led to the recovery of 24 more sacks, bringing the total to 35 sacks weighing 1,750 kg. The seized sugar is estimated to be worth Tk 1,75,000 in the local market.
