S. Sarfuddin Ahmed Santu, the candidate with the paddy sheaf symbol, has been unofficially declared the winner in the Barishal-2 (Uzirpur-Banaripara) constituency, according to preliminary results released on February 12, 2026. The constituency includes two municipalities and 17 unions with 140 polling centers. Based on unofficial counts, Santu received 141,280 votes, while his main opponent, Jamaat-e-Islami nominee Master Abdul Mannan, secured 70,719 votes, giving Santu a lead of 69,461 votes.
In Banaripara upazila, Santu obtained 53,850 votes compared to 32,113 for his rival, a margin of 21,737 votes. In Uzirpur upazila, he received 87,430 votes against 38,619 for the Jamaat candidate. These preliminary results indicate that Santu has achieved a decisive victory in the Barishal-2 constituency.
The report highlights that the results are based on unofficial tallies, suggesting that the final official announcement is still pending.
