Sirajganj’s Wind Power Plant Begins Trial Run, Commercial Production Yet to Start

Although test production has started at the Sirajganj wind power plant, it has not yet begun commercial operation. The plant, launched in 2018 with eight turbines, aims to generate 2 MW of electricity for the national grid. Delays in implementation kept it inactive for over five years. Officials say full-scale production will begin soon. The project is expected to help mitigate climate change, reduce fossil fuel dependency, and promote clean energy, with local engineers capable of maintaining the system for up to 25 years.

Bangladesh’s Third Wind Power Plant Yet to Begin Commercial Production Despite Being Operational

Although operational, Bangladesh’s third wind power plant in the Malshapara area of Sirajganj town has yet to commence commercial production. The foundation stone of this plant was laid in 2018. Previously, two similar wind power projects were set up in Feni and Kutubdia (Cox’s Bazar) at costs of BDT 70 million and BDT 120 million respectively.
