Police in the United States have recovered the body of Jamil Limon, a Bangladeshi PhD student at the University of South Florida, from the Howard Frankland Bridge area. Another student, Nahida Brishti, remains missing. Authorities have arrested Limon’s roommate, Hisham Abugharbieh, as a suspect in the case. Investigators informed Brishti’s family that based on the amount of blood found in the shared apartment, they believe she is also dead.
Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office identified the 26-year-old suspect as a former USF student. He faces charges including battery, unlawful confinement, evidence tampering, failure to report a death, and unlawful removal of a body. Sheriff Chad Chronister described the incident as deeply disturbing and said it has shaken the community. The pair had been reported missing on April 17 after last being seen near campus the previous day.
An autopsy is underway to determine Limon’s cause of death, with results expected over the weekend. Search operations for Brishti continue, while USF’s president said the university is maintaining contact with the victims’ families.
