Despite a government ban, unauthorized small launches and trawlers are operating in the Meghna-Tentulia River’s danger zone under the protection of influential individuals. These unfit vessels, lacking proper fitness clearance, are putting passengers' lives at risk, especially during the rough river season from March to October. Authorities have remained largely inactive, while locals say the absence of alternative transport leaves them no choice. Although officials promise action, illegal operations continue unchecked across at least a dozen routes in the region.

Illegal Vessels Operating in Meghna River's Danger Zone

Defying government restrictions and under the protection of influential individuals, small launches and trawlers continue to operate on local and long-distance inter-routes along the Meghna-Tentulia River. These banned vessels are actively operating from Borhanuddin Hakimuddin Launch Terminal in Bhola, directly through the Meghna River’s designated danger zone.
