The interim government has abolished the tax on marriage registration, as announced by Legal Adviser Asif Nazrul during a press briefing at the Ministry of Law on Tuesday, January 21. No More Taxes for Marriage: Legal Adviser

The legal adviser said, “There was a tax imposed on marriage registration, which the Ministry of Law has abolished as it was unreasonable.” He further added, “The marriage forms used to include terms like ‘married’ or ‘virgin,’ which is a disrespectful term for women. We have replaced it with ‘unmarried.’ We have implemented many such small changes and are planning to do much more.”
