Bangladesh expressed hope that India would accelerate the extradition process for Sheikh Hasina during a courtesy meeting between Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi. The meeting was held on Monday at the prime minister’s office in the Cabinet Division at the Bangladesh Secretariat. The two sides discussed important bilateral issues concerning Bangladesh and India.
Bangladesh also reiterated its request to India to return people involved in the killing of Osman Hadi. At the start of the meeting, the prime minister welcomed the Indian high commissioner. Trivedi briefed Rahman on his experience of carrying out his duties in Dhaka over the past two months.
Rahman stressed the need to create an appropriate environment to advance bilateral relations further. Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman, the prime minister’s foreign affairs adviser Humayun Kabir and relevant officials were present. The report did not mention any Indian response or decision regarding the extradition request or the return of those linked to the Osman Hadi killing.
