National Guard arrives in L.A., curfews planned to crack down on looting in fire-ravaged areas
L.A. County Sheriff Robert Luna announced increased security measures, including deploying National Guard troops to protect evacuated fire zones from looting, with over 20 arrests already made. The National Guard will assist with traffic control and infrastructure protection. A nightly curfew from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. in affected areas, including the Palisades and Eaton fires, is being implemented to ensure safety. Supervisor Kathryn Barger stressed that the curfew aims to safeguard residents, not penalize them.
