BNP leader Major (Retd.) Hafizuddin Ahmed raised concerns about the government’s decision to allow a “humanitarian corridor,” warning it could drag the country into war. He noted that political parties and the public were kept in the dark. “We fought for 16 years to remove a mafia regime and bring back democracy—why are we still in the dark?” he asked. He reiterated demands for fresh elections and criticized the current lack of decisive leadership. Senior BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi recalled how the Farakka Dam was operationalized during Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s time, suggesting that the damage started back then.
