Students at Dhaka University have pledged to carry forward the ideals of Sharif Osman Hadi, a student activist who reportedly died while opposing what protesters termed 'Awami fascism' and 'Indian hegemony.' Following news of his death on Thursday night, students from multiple residential halls marched across campus chanting slogans and gathering at the Raju Memorial Sculpture area. The demonstrations reflected a surge of emotion and solidarity, with participants declaring, 'We are all Hadi now.'

Student speakers described Hadi’s death as a continuation of the 'July Movement' and a symbol of resistance against political domination. Protesters vowed to fight against internal authoritarianism and foreign influence, calling for social boycotts of those perceived as complicit. Several universities, including Chittagong and Jagannath, also witnessed solidarity protests demanding justice for Hadi’s killing.

Observers note that the protests underscore growing student discontent with governance and regional politics. Calls for justice and independence from external influence may intensify if authorities fail to address the circumstances surrounding Hadi’s death.
