Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha acknowledged India’s dependence on Bangladesh, stating that both nations need each other. Speaking at a press conference in Agartala, he highlighted completed but stalled projects like the Maitri Bridge and the Agartala-Akhaura rail link. Recent tensions, including attacks on Bangladesh’s consular office in Tripura, led to a diplomatic strain. However, Saha expressed hope that once conditions stabilize, these projects will resume, stressing that Bangladesh, too, cannot function without India’s support.

India Cannot Function Without Bangladesh’s Help: Tripura Chief Minister

India’s stance is softening. This was evident in a press conference held in Agartala by Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha. According to The Indian Express, during a press conference in Agartala on Saturday (February 8), Chief Minister Manik Saha stated, “Neither India nor Bangladesh can function without each other’s help.” He mentioned that a Special Economic Zone has already been established, the Maitri Bridge has been completed, and rail connectivity between Agartala and Bangladesh’s Akhaura has been set up. He further stated that while everything is ready, some recent issues have delayed operations. “I am confident that once the situation normalizes, these projects will be implemented because Bangladesh also cannot function without India’s support,” he added.
