Police in Amtali, Barguna arrested two alleged drug dealers on Tuesday afternoon with 1,900 yaba pills and 60,000 taka believed to be proceeds from drug sales. The arrests took place around 5 p.m. at Bottola in Amtali municipality. The detainees were identified as Sujal Hawlader, 28, from Lakshmiganj village in Madaripur Sadar, and Abdullah Al Noman, 29, from Ward 6 of Amtali municipality.
According to Amtali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shadat Hasnain Parvez, the two had been involved in drug trading in Amtali and surrounding areas for a long time. Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by Sub-Inspector Komol Chandra Dey and Assistant Sub-Inspector Habibur Rahman conducted the operation that led to their capture.
A case has been filed against the suspects under the Narcotics Control Act, and they have been sent to Barguna District Jail following their arrest.
