Sarada has been living in India for the past 35 years. She married Mahesh Kukreja, a resident of Bolangir, Odisha, and has two children and grandchildren. However, following recent tensions between India and Pakistan triggered by a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, she has now become a casualty of the diplomatic fallout. Odisha Police have ordered her to leave India as soon as possible.
