After 12 PM on August 5, two consecutive phone calls were made from Dhaka to Delhi — a fact later confirmed by Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar himself in Parliament. The first call came from the office of Sheikh Hasina, with the Prime Minister of Bangladesh speaking directly. While Jaishankar did not reveal who exactly she spoke to, diplomatic protocol suggests such conversations usually take place directly between the two Prime Ministers.
