Barishal Canal Being Excavated Amid Threat of Disappearance

The Barishal Canal, which flows through the heart of Madaripur town, is now undergoing excavation after years of encroachment and pollution had pushed it to the brink of extinction. Although the canal is still marked on the map, stretching from Itarpool to Pathuriar Par within the city, most of its 8-kilometer length had become clogged due to illegal occupation and waste dumping, completely halting water flow.
