Around 200 meters of the embankment in Shariatpur’s Jajira upazila collapsed into the Padma River due to strong currents, endangering over 500 homes, several schools, and shops. The erosion began on Eid day and continued for two days. Residents are being forced to relocate. Authorities are providing emergency support, while a permanent embankment project is under process. Local leaders warn that without urgent action, 70% of the union could be lost to the river.
