Inefficiency, Weak Controls, and Bureaucratic Complexity within NBR Are Major Obstacles to Revenue Collection: Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury

Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury is the Chairman of the state-owned Sonali Bank and a former Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of Bangladesh. He also previously served as Finance Secretary. He holds an MSc in Finance and Accounting with distinction from the University of Birmingham, UK, and bachelor's and master's degrees in Accounting from the University of Chittagong. In a recent interview with Bonik Barta, he discussed challenges in budget implementation, attracting foreign investment, and the structural issues facing the Office of the CAG.
