Bangladesh’s Anti-Corruption Commission secretary Saidur Rahman Khan said action will be taken on a corruption complaint against former president Md. Shahabuddin Chuppu after a new commission is formed. The statement was reported on August 12, 2026, after journalists asked about a complaint recently submitted to the ACC by Islami Bank authorities.
Khan said the ACC currently has no commission and that such complaints are accepted through the commission. He said officials expect a new commission to be formed soon, after which necessary action will be taken on the allegation.
Bangladesh Islami Bank PLC filed the complaint over allegations of embezzlement in the name of loans against Shahabuddin, S Alam, former Islami Bank managing director Monirul Moula, Abdul Hamid Mia, Mahbub Ul Alam and 38 people in total. Mohammad Yasin Ali, assistant vice president of the bank’s Foreign Exchange Corporate Branch, submitted the complaint on behalf of the bank. The bank requested the ACC to investigate the allegations.
